Jay is an internationally experienced Human Resources professional and Founder of Culture Canopy – a Human Resources consultancy focused on partnering mission driven clients who seek to create a positive impact in the world – particularly those in the social impact, vegan, sustainability & animal advocacy space.

Jay brings a compassionate, modern, creative, and strategic approach to his work and is passionate about helping his clients to implement high impact people initiatives which bring value to the employee experience, grows the organization, and embeds a culture of performance and belonging.

Globally experienced in people operations, compensation, talent, development, rewards, inclusion, payroll, budgeting & systems   

With over 15 years’ experience supporting creative, commercial & non-profit organizations, Jay has experience in working with companies at various stages of their growth journey - from startup environments scaling globally to established luxury brands - implementing plans which help to tell an organizations story, which facilitate the achievement of organizational goals, and allowing a people-centric & sustainable work environment to flourish.

During his time as Vice President of Global People Operations at Stella McCartney, Jay led a global team and a large-scale transformation project overhauling the entire infrastructure of the Human Resources function - evolving the employee experience, devising the total reward philosophy & modernizing internal processes - maximizing the functions capabilities & effectiveness.

Jay has experience in delivering initiatives across People Operations, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Development, Engagement, Culture, Total Rewards, HR Systems, Workforce Planning & Budgeting, Inclusion & Organizational Design. Jay has also provided coaching & strategic mentorship to leaders across the organizations he has worked with. In his approach, Jay seeks to find creative holistic solutions for organizational challenges, which are right-sized, bespoke & future focused.

Originally from the UK and now based in the NYC, Jay has experience working across North America, UK, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Japan – creating collaborative environments centered around achieving a common goal and empowering others to make an impact.  

 

As a member of the LGBTQI+ community, Jay has a sensitivity to the experience of those who are part of marginalized communities – drawn from his own journey to find belonging in the world – and is passionate about creating harmonious work environments of equity, equality & opportunity.

 

Jay is a passionate, caring & considerate longtime vegan, committed to creating a more compassionate and sustainable world, with a reduced reliance on animals used for food, materials, testing & entertainment. Jay has also partnered organizations to rehabilitate and re-home dogs saved from the Korean meat trade.

 

Jay is a founding member and steering committee member of the Employers for Pay Equity and is also a member of 3Sixty Insights Global Executive Advisory Committee.
